Karen's Notes
Dosage of this product can be increased as needed- many patients benefit from higher doses of these incredibly soothing herbs. If very inflamed, 4-6 pills can be taken 3 times per day. If diarrhea ensues due to the 'slippery' nature of these herbs, reduce dose. Many of the herbs in this formula are adaptagenic- meaning they often adapt to what your body needs. So if you have diarrhea they often bulk up the stool, or if you have constipation they will promote a bowel movement. As always, experiment and find the dosage your body needs. If you have an ulcerated colon, these herbs are like a soft, gooey paste that will soothe the inflamed lining. This formula felt like heaven to me when I was dealing with flares.

Aloe vera demonstrates significant gastroprotective effects via a number of mechanisms, including mast cell stabilization and antioxidant effects.* Only the inner gel fillet is used in this product, alleviating any laxative effect.* Deglycyrrhizinated licorice is well known for its ability to optimize mucus production by gastrointestinal mucosal cells and to promote a healthy GI tract.* Licorice root preparations have been used for many years for the nutritional support of the stomach and duodenum.* Glycyrrhizin is removed from the extract to prevent a rise in blood pressure that has been observed in some individuals taking whole licorice root.* Slippery elm bark (Ulmus rubra) and marshmallow root (Althea officinalis) contain mucilaginous components that are soothing to the digestive tract.* To soothe esophageal irritation, GI-Encap can be taken out of the capsule and mixed with warm water for a soothing tea.
